Best Oregon Cheese Steak Reviews

Best Oregon Cheese Steak Reviews

This page was created to provide extensive Philly cheese steak reviews of the best Oregon cheese steak places. This place should follow in the tradition of the original Philadelphia cheese steak recipe (or as close to it as possible).

If you know of a place worthy of being considered the best Philly cheese steak restaurant, shop, place, store (you get the point) then please be kind enough to comment on this page. The more information that you provide about their Philly cheese steaks, the better for everybody (unless you are afraid that your home town may become famous like Pat’s and Geno’s Steaks in Philadelphia). But don’t worry the tourists are friendly!

Don’t forget to discuss what type of cheese steak they are famous for (with onions, American cheese, cheddar cheese, with peppers, big steak, large steak, etc.), where they are located, the name (Duh!), and whatever else makes you excited. The world is depending on your best Philly cheese steak reviews so please be kind enough to describe your nominee the best that you can!

  1. I grew up in Philadelphia but I recently lived in Oregon for a couple years, and the best cheesesteak I've ever had outside of Philly was at a place called New York Richie's, which has 2 locations: in La Grande (10303 W. 1st Street) and in Enterprise (215 W. Main Street), both in eastern Oregon close to the Idaho border. I think this place should win the award for most random location for a great cheesesteak, because not only is it on the west coast, but there's literally nothing but farms and cows for 400 miles in any direction. New York Richie is quite a character (he used to be a professional bodybuilder) but he makes a great cheesesteak! I had one with provolone and onions at both of the locations. He does chopped steak with onions mixed in. I had provolone, which was evenly melted on top of the steak. The bread is not quite authentic--I missed the Amoroso rolls I was used to getting back home (and New York Richie himself told me he had trouble finding the right bread in OR)--but otherwise it was excellent. If you're ever in eastern oregon, New York Richie's is a must.
